Summer Scheme Proven Successful

Gilford Community Forum has held a very successful children’s summer activity programme. In partnership with Banbridge District Council, storytelling and plasticine model making was arranged, with 12 local children taking part. The following week 45 children and young people participated in arts and crafts in the library, drug and alcohol awareness workshops and circus school with stilt walking, gymnastics and juggling on offer for all brave participants!

Eimear McCurdie, SELB Youth Worker, organised an action-packed summer scheme for teenagers, bringing 20 local young people to Craigavon Watersports Centre, Tropicana in Newcastle, Lisburn Omniplex, Belfast and to Woodlands for a mini-world cup experience. Feedback from the group was very positive and it is hoped that the young people will attend the Wednesday night youth programme which recommences on 31st August in Gilford Resource Centre from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.
