After many months of consultation and hard work on behalf of the Save Gilford Library committee, Libraries NI has decided to close our library.
Out of the ten libraries up for potential closure only there were given the worst possible news: Gilford, Moy and Moneymore.
However, there is a tiny hint of silver lining. Libraries NI and Banbridge District Council will work with the community to transfer key library services to the new community centre which may include permanent computers for public use, regular family activities such as Rhyme Time and book borrowing. However we demand a permanent book borrowing service and will not be fobbed off with a mobile library bus.
We will keep you posted on developments!
